Trouble TTC

**juwee** or any other girls with low progesterone

So I got my progesterone levels drawn at 9 dpo last week because I've been having short lp's and short, light AF's.  My level came back at 7.9, which I thought from everything I've read is a little lower than you normally like to see.  My ob's nurse called back today and said that my ob thinks I definitely O'd (duh, I know I did and told her this last week) and she doesn't think I need to do anything about my levels right now.  What???  This is so inconsistant with everything I've read.  On a brighter note, my lp's seem to be getting longer.  Maybe my short lp's were from getting off bcp in December?  I am having my estrogen and FSH checked on cd3 (pretty sure AF is on her way), so I am going to wait for those to come back, do more research and then have a talk with my ob.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • Sometimes low p4 is a result of short LP's simply because the cycle is starting to taper off. For instance, if the "normal/standard" LP is 14 days, naturally p4 tapers off toward the end. But with shorter LP's it is sooner. If you got your draw at 9dpo and your LP's are 10-11 days, this isn't too bad. But I do agree that supplements wouldn't hurt.

  • I had a low 7dpo p4 on my clomid IUI cycle. My RE is upping my clomid dose to produce a stronger ovulation. You can get pregnant with a weak ovulation/low progesterone, but you're not really doing yourself any favors. Good luck!

Hey Girl!!! Your levels sound just like mine, and my RE did put me on Progesterone stating he wants them a little higher. I don't know much about length of LP's so I can't help you at all there.

My response?? I say we all cont+alt+delete our bodies and start over. Sound like a plan??? :)

Okay, but my lp is now 13 days and no sign of AF.  Wouldn't you consider it low if that was the case?

Juwee, thank you for the response.  I plan to call my ob to ask her about my options.
