Agreed. It's like one of two things we argue about. Why can't we all just win the lottery, quit working and just have fun with our babies all day long???

Jenna, you got a PT option offered at work? That's awesome! Mondays and Thursdays are great days off. :-) Seriously, are you guys talking about it? I know it's hard to see part of that paycheck go, but sometimes it's a sacrifice worth making (at least it's been in our case).
I got offered a Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday work week and off Monday and Friday. It would be a 40% pay cut. My H wanted me to come up with ways to save money if I went that route, but I was stumped. I don't know what I can do to save more. I am pretty frugal as it is. I keep thinking, is it worth it to gain one more day with her (I currently work 4-10 hour days) for that big of a salary cut??

I wish I could find something part time. Trouble is, I don't know what I want to be when I grow up. And I think I have some growing up to do, LOL.
Hmm. Well, you'd gain hours at the beginning and end of the day, right? Or would you still be working 10 hour days? Would you be saving on child care that way? Will they give you the option of coming back full time in a couple years?

I would gain about a half hour before and after work. I would be working 7:30-4 (with an hour lunch) rather than 7-4:30 (and no lunch). Day care doesn't have a part time rate, so we would be paying the same. I am not sure about going full-time again in the future. Decisions, decisions!

Touchy subject in our house as well. I work part-time now but it is still 5 days a week. I would REALLY like to work 3 or 4 days a week. Everytime I talk about making a change DH says "why mess with a good thing?" I don't think he realizes just how much I can't stand my job! MEN!
And as for the lottery...that would be great but I guess it would help if we bought a ticket:-)
Unfortunately, the pittance that is my unemployment compensation just doesn't go far in replacing my salary. It's tough to cut back when you've had two incomes for years and don't have time to save up/plan for the loss of one.
I hate to say it, but I really think I'm going to have to go back to work in order for us to do some things we really want to do in the next few years. That really bums me out.
