So we will be moving on to whole milk here in the next few weeks, and I'm wondering what the best way to do it is - do we give it cold, in a sippy cup, or warm in a bottle? We'd like to start weaning from bottles, I think, but she's never finished a sippy cup of anything, not even juice. I worry she won't drink enough milk ... what are you doing/how did you do it?
Re: Whole milk/weaning from bottles?
I weaned off the boob to the sippy of cow's milk. I cut one feeding at a time, and offered the sippy to him on and off all day. The first few days he only drank 3-4 oz of milk total all day. As I cut out feedings and he got used to the taste, he increased his intake on his own. He is now up to about 18 oz a day and we started 3 weeks ago (and he nurses once before bed- which I am keeping).
The milk did upset his stomach and bowels- so the dr is having us pull off it a bit and go a little slower. I know a lot of people do a mix of 1/4 cow's milk, 3/4 formula- 1/2, 1/2, - 3/4, 1/4 until they are only on cow's milk.
It is up to you if you want to do the sippy now or not. We did it b/c with nursing there was no choice- I think if I were you I would keep up with the bottles and do the milk, or get him drinking from the sippy with the formula before intro'ing the milk 1 change at a time would be much easier to deal with

We gave it cold.
We started by filling his bottle or sippy 3/4 with formula and 1/4 of milk. Then after a couple days 1/2 and 1/2...and so on.
She doesn't need to finish the entire sippy cup at one sitting. Have it available throughout the day and she will be fine. DS goes through about 2 sippy cups of milk a day...sometimes more.
