Where should DH and I go on vacation?

We want to take a long weekend this fall (probably the beginning of November) for our 5th anniversary. So far the contenders are New York City, Chicago, Boston and Asheville/Gatlinburg. We also considered New Orleans, but it might be a bit too far. Obviously we don't want to go too far since it will only be a long weekend, but we want to do something we wouldn't want to do with a child right now. We're also worried about the weather, but hoping it won't be too cold in the start of November most places yet. Any other suggestions or any thoughts about our current ideas?

I'd say NYC hands down! Especially in the fall. I do love Asheville too though. Two totally different places, but I just love NYC!

I would pick NYC in the fall too. Especially if you can stay in the city and get tickets to Broadway or Radio City Music Hall. So much fun!

If you're a wine drinker, I recommend the wineries on the Finger Lakes in Central New York. We spent 3 days up there touring the various wine trails and really enjoyed it. Our favorites were Seneca and Keuka Lakes. The scenery is amazing (especially during the fall), the wine is fantastic and the people are so nice. We're hoping to make it back for an anniversary trip in the next few years.
