Re: May I join you?

  • If Tuesday is not CD3, then you will probably do an Ultrasound. Then, they will tell you to come in for blood work around CD3. Also, she'll probably tell you do schedule an HSG around CD7 or 8. In addition, she would order an SA for your husband. All of this will probably take a month or so to get done. Sometimes they'll tell you the plan before your tests come back. For instance, my OB said that I would start Clomid if everything check-out normal.

Suggestion, if you check normal, switch to an RE. Don't worry, you'll hear plenty of stories on here about why you should!

    Welcome and good luck!

  • Welcome and GL!

Do not start Clomid with an OB, they just don't know what they are doing.  I personally wouldn't go through any testing with one either...I'd ask for a referral to an RE.

    TTC #2 - 6/12 surgery #3, FET #1 & 1.2 = BFN, 12/2012 FET #2 = BFP! DD is 1.5 yrs!
    Surprise! 12/16/14 BFP, loss #2 12/31/14

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

  • I agree with L&R on all counts.  When you go to an RE, they very well may make you redo some or all of the testing.

    Welcome!!

  • i just posted an intro as well, although i've had some tests done already.. based on my experience, CD 3 bloodwork for you and SA for your hubby would be the first steps. Then HSG to confirm your tubes are open.  As PP's said, I'd move on to a RE at this stage. GL!

So do you guys think I should call and cancel the OB appointment and call a RE? Im pretty sure I don't need a referral with my insurance.

Most people would say yes. My ob did my tests and then sent DH for SA's at the RE. Then, after our tests were not normal, she sent us straight to the RE. We didn't redo any tests.

If you are good with insurance, I'd go to an RE. Do some research first and find one you like. Also, Google SART stats and see what your REs stats are for IVF. Even if you aren't doing IVF, it's good to see how successful they are. Just MO

  • Welcome!

Depending on which RE you call and where you live they can sometimes take quite awhile to get in to see them.  It took me about a month to see my RE.  I would call and make the appointment.  Then if you still feel like you would like to meet with your OB I would.  My OB did some of the initial testing (and my RE was actually happy with that), but I agree with everyone else about not starting any meds until you meet with the RE.

    Good luck!
