Do I need the Beaba Babycook?

Is it that much of a PITA to steam in a pot and then use the cuisinart? Will I save tons of time/headaches if I buy the Beaba?

TIA

  • You don't need it. We use a steamer on the stove and then an immersion blender. I do like having 2 sets of Baby Cubes for freezing.

Hah - good question.  I bought it and have not opened it - am trying steaming and pureeing to see how that goes.  So far my kid hates purees, so I think the babycook will go back.  Besides, that $150 will buy a good deal of fluff!!

  • I vote no. I steamed his veggies and it was a breeze. I did a batch and froze them for the week ...that seems like ages ago. Plus it is such a short period of time to use that thing before you move on to other foods.

  • Someone gave me one so I did use it and it was nice to have. But I would not have spent money on it-I don't think it's worth the money.

  •  At the time I was looking they were not getting good reviews...so, I bought  a beautiful cuisinart and the fresh baby trays.   I steamed everything in a stainless steel steam basket in a ss pot..which makes me feel a little better over using the beaba's plastic.  There are great instructions and recipes on wholesomebabyfood.com.  The bonus is now I have a beautiful food processor which I use all the time.
  • Nope. If you really want to spend the money, buy yourself a nice steaming pot or real food processor that you'll use much more and for much longer. Honestly, the Babycook is just as much to clean, but only lets you do a small amount. And it's just one more thing to store when the brief pureed food phase is over.
  • God no!  Save the $$ and use a blender or a food processor.  Or your kid could hate purees like mine so I ended up just mashing up whatever I was eating with a fork and letting her eat it.

  • No. I think this is the most overrated baby gadget on earth. If you don't have one, buy a stick blender to puree and you'll have everything you need!
  • Thank you, ladies, for saving me $150!! :)

  • Someone gave us a smoothie maker thing for our wedding, and I used that. It was pretty awesome, I have to say.
