When will the tiredness stop!!

I can't seem to get enough sleep...I thought it was going to get better by now but as soon as I sit down around noon I pass out on the couch and then get up feeling even more tired.  Thank god I have off for summer break!!

I wish I would get some energy back I feel so useless

Re: When will the tiredness stop!!

  • I know!  I have an 8-5 desk job plus a part-time job.  At least at my part-time job I'm moving, but when I'm sitting at my desk I can barely keep my eyes open!  I've heard it gets better for the 2nd trimester and I can't wait!

  • Hate to rain on your parade but I am still sleepy! I don't take a nap everyday anymore and they are not as long or coma-like but I am still waiting for my burst of energy! I hear it is more like 16-18wks!

I was afraid of this...and here i thought I was on the cusp! Mine kind of comes and goes though. Some days I feel like my old self and days like today I feel like I could have slept 24 hours without waking.

  • One of my friends who is 6 months pregnant said the "burst of energy" they all talk about is BS.  You continue to be tired - maybe not as much so as the first tri, but still sleepy.

If I am moving around I am ok, but if I am sitting at my desk or on the couch I am a goner.

  • I still need about 12 hours at night, but if I get that I don't need a nap.  Not needing a nap didn't start until about week 14 or so.  I can also stay up a little later than I used to if I can sleep in the next day, otherwise if I don't get close to 12 hours, I still need a nap.  A friend of mine never did recover her energy the whole 9mos!!
  • It never stops.  You're a mommy now!  LOL.

  • I completely understand. I was asking myself the same question today and saying thank god I have off for summer break too! It makes me a little nervous for when we go back though, are you? For all you 8-5 mommies, I don't know how you do it!
  • I'm feeling much better now than I have been. I think the difference is that in the first 12 weeks my body was so tired that I couldn't even stand long enough  to take a shower. Now its more of an "over all" constant sleepiness. But I figure its natures way of getting us ready for the lack of sleep in the future.
  • The last three days I've actually started to have a bit more energy.  I'm not needing to take a nap in order to survive the day!  I am also able to get some stuff done around the house.  I'm still not at pre-pregnancy state but it's a tone better than a few weeks ago!

  • Yeah I'll be going back in Sept...I'm hoping that since I'll be moving around more during work that it won't be as bad.

I feel like I had a few days of being better but now I'm just as tired if not a little more then I was early on.  I feel bad for DH b/c I can't get anything done around the house anymore and the lack of sleep is making me cranky.

  • It's gets better in 2nd Tri and then bad again in 3rd.

  • Mine stopped at 10 weeks when my nausea stopped. I didn't have bad m/s just random nausea . And I have been cleaning and reorganizing like a maniac. I hope your energy comes back soon too!

  • I'm barely keeping my eyes open as I read this.

I'm not sure if it's getting worse or I'm just having more trouble sleeping at night and it's carrying over.   Either way, fingers are crossed for the 2nd tri energy burst!

  • I've gotten somewhat better.  I can do things in the morning without getting completely nauseous and warn out.  But come 2 p.m. I am exhausted.  Guess I'll just have to get everything done in the morning.  Luckily I have a supportive DH and family.  If I seem tired, they make me lay down.  And my FIL comes up to my house daily to check to see if I want him to take my DS and DD so I can nap.  So sweet!
