Backseat driver...

Any other toddlers out there a back seat drivers? It's so funny and cute.

When we go over a bump its, "Whoa mommy!"

When we turn a sharp corner its, "Be careful mommy!"

When we stop suddenly its, "Oh sh*t!"

When we are stopped its, "Move cars, move!"

I just think its hilarious that she is like this. I really should try and video tape it.

Re: Backseat driver...

  • LOL....  Brenna yells "Oh no!" when we go over a bump, and tells DH "be careful Daddy" when he speeds up.  That is precious IMO, but she is already driving from her carseat.

  • Yep, two of them.  DD asked me the other day if yellow light means speed up. They also bicker over who gets to critique me first.  It has lost its cuteness and is becoming obnoxious.
  • My nephew does this when I have picked him up from school. I hear "wow you drive really fast".  Then he tells my mom and his mom how I drive too fast.   I swear I was going the speed limit!
  • Allie doesn't offer much driving advice yet, but is very demanding as to what scenery she wants.  She's always asking for more busses, diggers, airplanes, big trucks, dump trucks, moo cows, horsies, etc.  It's quite difficult to please the kid if you can't locate the correct scenery at the correct time.  I tried to pass a yellow dump truck off as a digger last week and she said, "No Mommy!  That's a dump truck.  I said more diggers!"

Evan does what Allie does and what Katie does.  At first I thought it was cute but man is it a pain sometimes.  Today whenever we pulled up to a stop sign he would say 'Stop!' then I had to wait for him to say 'Go'.  Most of the time it was okay but when other cars were behind me he would get upset that I didn't wait for him to tell me to go.

Yep, Owen does this too.  It's hard for my led foot to slow down with the tractors and motorcycles that he demands I drive alongside.

  • LOL!  Caleb's favorite expression is "2 hands Mommy."  And then when I don't have them properly positioned on the wheel he lets me know.  He is also obsessed with pointing out motorcycle drivers who don't wear helmets and he gives them a good scolding!

  • Since we have a longer drive to and from day care I teach him stuff while DH is driving.  I got the bright idea one day to teach him about what red, green and yellow lights mean.  Now he has to tell us every time we come to a light what we are supposed to do.  Although it is pretty cute.  He has hand signals for all of them too... yellow means slow down and he slowly moves him hands forward.  Guess me talking with my hands influenced that huh?

  • Ethan recognizes the places we drive and the routes we go to get there... if I vary from our typical route he gets mad and throws a fit, "No, this way mommy!"  The railroad tracks by my grandma's house are closed and he gets so mad that we don't drive that way anymore, lol.
