Back from U/S - 1 maturing follicle.

Hello ladies.  I am currently in my first IUI cycle.  I had my u/s today and the dr. said everything looks great as far as my lining and everything.  He saw one maturing follice at 14mm right now.  I am to do my Ovidrel shot on Wednesday night and my IUI is on Friday.  So far so good.  I sure hope my DH can perform on Friday!  No pressure!Wink

  • Good luck to you!  We're on our first cycle of clomid and will probably add in IUI come September if we're still not pregnant.  Right now we are in the middle of moving and since DH is stressed out as it is I didn't think it would be right to add MORE pressure to him lol
  • Good luck with the IUI!!! How low was your husband's sperm, if you don't mind me asking? We did our first IUI last cycle which failed and we found out my DH's sperm was way lower than we thought (based on a SA in 2006).... now they are recommending IVF+ICSI....

  • We really don't know right now how low his count is.  Before my son was born in August of 2006....we were having trouble TTC.  His count was less than 1 million in Feb 2005 and then in Oct or Nov of 2005 it was up around 8 million.  We got pregnant in Dec of 2005.

Then we started trying again in Feb of 2007 for #2.  He had another S/A done in Oct of 2007 and it was just above 1 million.  We just figured it would go back up again like last time, but we don't know if it did or not.  We're not sure if our infertility is more because of me or him this time.  I apparently have trouble ovulating.  It's all a guessing game at this point.  My RE seems more interested in just getting right into business instead of doing a bunch of testing right now.  That's fine with me due to cost is out of pocket.  He seems to think we are good candidates for IUI based on our history, so we shall see!

Did they do multiple s/a for your husband?  Our RE said that the count can fluctuate greatly on any given day.

  • That's helpful - thank you! They said DH's sperm was like 3.7 million and were recommending IVF with ICSI - that's interesting they still recommended IUI for you with sperm less than 1 million... and good to hear your dr said sperm can fluctuate!! I'm making DH take some supplements and vitamins and then we'll re-test it.

  • Well, actually, at that point when his count was around 1 million...the RE I went to told us that IVF was our only option.  It was at that point they did a another s/a and it was 8 million.  We got pregnant naturally.  We told our new RE this information and he didn't seem too concerned since we had already gotten pregnant once.  And yes, he did say that sperm can fluctuate daily so that is encouraging.  I guess that's why they are supposed to do at least three s/a's.    That was never done for my DH and I don't know why.  I didn't know there was supposed to be more than one at the time so I never said anything.
