re-using baby bottles

i kept my dd's old baby bottles with the intention of only replacing the nipples when #2 comes.

i'm wondering if you guys think this is a good idea or rather just start fresh and get all new bottles to begin with.

i have the born free bottles and plan to use the same brand this time.

Re: re-using baby bottles

  • I guess it depends on what condition they are in.  If you're having a shower or sprinkle it wouldn't hurt to add a few bottles to the registry.

  • Granted, havne't done much reading the topic, but personally don't see anything wrong with reusing Mady's bottles.  Obviously you'll sterilize them before using, and if you change the nipples, even better.  If you have a concern, then like Adri said, add them to the registry... that is something affordable people will buy.  Otherwise, stick w/ what you got and save the $.  : )

  • thx for making up my mind :)

added the extra bottles to the registry just in case i need more and after my "sprinkle" if no one gets them for us we can get them with an extra 10% off.

  • I would reuse them and just change the nipple. Bottles are expensive. The boys only hada few bottles in their lifetime so I only had one or two to "hand down" but I found an awesome deal on Avent bottles that I couldn't pass up, so I stocked up on a few just in case I need them for this baby.
  • If they are in good condition, its fine!! I kept mine from Nicky, but couldn't use them because they had BPA in them.  I was so mad that I had to spend so much money replacing them!

  • I would just wash, sterilize, and reuse them.
  • I would replace the nipple and reuse if they are in good condition :)

I don't see any problem with using either. I used the playtex drop ins with Evan and will be using the same ones with the little one - will just sterilize and reuse, they are in perfect condition. I also did put bottles in the registry but funny enough no one got them so no problem, will just reuse the ones we have. ;)

  • I reused my Playtex dropins from Cedric to Graciela, and I replaced a couple of the nipples, but that was it.
  • I have 12 born free bottles nicely wrapped & packed. The day Nadia gets a sibling- those puppies will get washed, sterilized & reused with #2! Bottles are expensive!!!
  • I do plan on new nipples! I threw all of those out.
  • I'm doing the same thing. I used Born Free bottles for Quinn and I will sterilize them and use new nipples for this baby.
