I woke up this am in the worst pain and couldn't breath. The pain was all in my upper body, chest, ribs, back and didn't feel like it was pg related. No matter what I did it wouldn't go away, it hurt to lay down, it hurt to sit and it hurt to walk. I finally called my OB and talked to the nurse who said go to the ER, I couldn't go see them because I'm 1200 miles from home visiting family (figures this would happen NOW!). Of course I had to call DH and tell him what was going on (he's back home), and wouldn't you know everything started to go away...figures! I called the OB nurse back and told her but she still said go get checked out. So my mom took me to the ER and because I'm 23 weeks they sent me straight to L&D. After peeing in a cup and having my blood drawn I met with the on staff OB doc who said I had an esophageal spasm...yay me. Basically what happened is that some stomach acid sloshed back out of my stomach and cause my esophagus to spasm and clamp shut. They had me hooked up to the fetal monitor just to be sure the little gummy bear was OK and my mom and grandma got to hear what an active little thing she is, which was probably the coolest part of the whole thing. lol They let me go after about three and a half hours with instructions to f/u with my OB when i get home because for some reason I had trace amounts of blood and WBCs in my second urine sample but not the first, so I hoping there is no UTI starting up. But I am feeling just fine now other than a little tired.
It was so scarey and I hope it never happens again, but the ironic thing was that 29 years ago I was born at the hospital we went to today. Now I just really can't wait to get home tomorrow evening so I am back with DH and not so far away from my doctors.
