I realize this might not be so exciting to most people, but Colin was diagnosed with a severe speech delay earlier this year. He was 75% delayed in expressive language and 85% delayed in receptive language. He receives speech and developmental therapies every week.
Apparently in the last 3 weeks, everything just started to make sense to him. 3 weeks ago, he had zero words. Barely even babbled. Today, he has TWENTY words. He adds at least one new word every day and it is amazing. I just can't believe that it all suddenly 'clicked' for him. He still struggles with receptive language and is not caught up for expressive (and is still developmentally delayed, although I'm also seeing improvement there as well), but oh my gosh. I am so excited. It is so much fun hearing him talk and ask for things. I love it!
Re: AW: Colin can talk!!
I'm so happy for you! And him!
I know exactly the feeling. It's so awesome and such a relief when things start to click!
Let's try this again...

We had really been working with him on signing more words and once he figured out that he could communicate with us through signs he seemed to realize that communication is good and that's when he started talking.
