DS has pretty bad flattening (is that a word) in the back of his head and DD prefers the right side a lot so she has one side that's pretty flat... they evaluated both babies and said they were both "severe" and would need a DOC band :-( I'm glad we caught it early but I'm so bummed.... we go back in a month or so to get them measured...

Re: baby bears had a cranial consult today

it will be okay, and they will get them off before you know it

yah, they were kind of thrown off with them being preemies.. they weren't sure if they wanted to use their actual age or their adjusted age.. I think at this point we are just waiting for the insurance to hopefully ok it and within a month they should have their bands...
Definitely use actual age. I hope your insurance covers it. ::fingers crossed:: We paid nearly $7000

We were told our boy was "severe" too, but it's not necessarily a given that you have to use the bands. Especially given the age of your cuties. Is your pediatrician fully behind this? Two peds we talked to were strongly against using the bands. Our physical therapist wanted him in one, though.
At their age the skulls are SO soft that you really might not need a band. Do check with your doc to see if they have torticollis, though. Their "preferences" might actually be a muscle problem. Physical therapy will right that problem, which can make the plagiocephaly resolve itself on its own--no band necessary.
Just a thought. They're your little ones, and you know them best. I just wanted to share my experience.
