NT testing in Canada?

Can you have NT testing in Canada?
I've asked some of my girlfriends and they didn't even know what it was.

Re: NT testing in Canada?

  • Varies from province to province.  Here in NL it's only done for high-risk pregnancies - previous chromosome abnormality, twins (b/c they can't have maternal serum screening) etc.

I know it's more widely available in ON, but am not sure about Alberta.

  • Thanks

I think that it might be only for high risk here too, seeing as my OB didn't mention anything to me. Just seems like on all the US boards everyone has it done as general screeing.

  • Yup it's available.
I live in Calgary too, and just got my NT test done here. It's not mandatory, however, it's usually something the OB should ask you about.
  • Hello!  I'm in Winnipeg and because I'm over 35 it was an automatic for me (we still could have declined it, but I'm the type of person who would rather know and be able to make the necessary arrangements for baby).

Seeing that you posted this a while ago - did you end up getting it?
