Pregnant after a Loss

Not having a shower

So would it be totally weird to register anyway just to get coupons and a completion discount?

(My family is pretty old school Irish...like many of us are first generation born here...and we don't do baby showers.)

Re: Not having a shower

  • No way. I registered and most people didn't even buy off it, so now it's the list I use to figure out what I still need. There's no way I could remember it all otherwise.

  • I say do whatever you feel is "right".  I am not sure I want a baby shower until after the babe is here...  It's fear based, not anything else.  I haven't decided if we will register or not.
  • Not weird at all. It was a great "shopping list" for us. I had one very small shower, so ours didn't really get used either.

It's a good way to keep track of things, and the coupons are always helpful.

  • I think its worth it for the discount for sure!

  • I registered full well knowing I wasn't going to have a shower, it's a great way to see what I need and how I need to budget to buy everything.

  • I would still register just for self organization.  Plus, people might still find it and buy stuff for you.  I've done this when I got birth announcements.  I just check target and BRU and see if they are registered.

  • I registered when I was about 26 weeks but we're just now having showers b/c I didn't want them before he was actually here (superstitious). Lots of family still purchased off our registry, and the coupons have been awesome!

  • I did it mainly to have a shopping list/budget for me.  Plus, the coupons and one-day sale notifications are nice.

  • Not weird at all.  I have no desire to have a shower this time around and was given a very small one last time.  I've told every person I suspect would try to plan one that while appreciated I don't want one.  I do on the other hand want those coupons and absolutely plan on registering for a handful of things just to get them.

  • No baby shower for me either (I'm jewish) but still planning on registering.  Buy Buy Baby will hold the items till after the baby's born so if people want to buy me stuff, it'll be stuff that I need, and I don't have to have it in my house.  Also, then my rasearch is done and my choices are made, and I don't have to worry about researching bottles while I have a newborn at home.
