Pregnant after IF

Beta Levels Question

My best friend just found out she was pregnant after a FET on her second IVF.  They transferred two embryos on the 29th of June and she went in for a Beta work-up on the 9th where she was told she was pregnant (10 days after the transfer)!

Her beta levels were at 153 on Friday, the 9th (10 days after transfer).  Today she went in for more blood work and her levels were at 478 (13 days after transfer).  If it makes any difference, the embryos were frozen at 6 days.

If any of you are pregnant with multiples, do these levels indicate multiples?  Everything she finds online suggests they levels are in the normal range for a single baby.  Yes, she will find out from her Dr. when she goes for her first ultrasound, but she was curious and just wanted to know if the levels indicated there might be more than one (since two were transferred).

TIA!!

Re: Beta Levels Question

  • The only way to tell is by ultrasound.  Beta levels can be high for a singleton and low for a twin pregnancy.  Every woman (and pregnancy) is different.

  • if you google "beta base" you can find average ranges for singleton and multiple pgs.

    this!

    check betabase.info too.

If it helps, we have twins on board and my first beta 14 days after my retrieval was 331 and my repeat beta 16 days after retrieval was 764. I've seen people with twins though (trips even) that have had initial betas in the 100's.

    Congrats to your friend.

    Thanks! Betabase is really informative!

Congrats to you on your twins! H&H9!

  • Beware of those beta ranges because they tend to be super broad! My first beta was 611, second was 1631, third was 3483. Mine was a fresh cycle with a 3 day transfer of 2 8-celled embies, and all signs pointed to multiples, but there's just one super-loved lil' bun in this oven. :)
