NBR: Come in if you have a Keurig coffee maker....

DH and I are thinking about getting one. I've gone on several sites and have read a lot of reviews and they seem to be mixed. A lot of people wrote that they have had a ton of problems with the pump. If you have one, what do you think of it? Any problems?  Thank you!!

Re: NBR: Come in if you have a Keurig coffee maker....

  • We have one in my office.  There are only 6 of us, so while not a big office, it certainly gets more use than your day to day one.  We've had to have it replaced twice.  Keurig is generally really good about it.  I think they have a 3 year warranty.

  • Not a fan.  We got two coffeemakers for our wedding, one of them was the Keurig (which we hadn't registered for, had no idea where it was from and couldn't take it back)...it stopped working after 6 months.  We ended up having to go out and buy the original one we registered for.

  • We have one at work and I think the coffee tastes like crap. It tastes a little better than a vending machine. :P Yuck.

I have never had a problem with it not working or anything I just don't like the coffee it makes. We have tried several different brands/flavors.

  • I bought one in January and LOVE IT.  We have one in our office and liked that you always got a fresh cup.  As far as taste goes....some are good and some are bad.  Green Mountain is the brand we get at work and I like the breakfast blend.  Also my FAVORITE is the caribou ones.  I rarely drink that one now since I have not found it in a decaf at a store.

I also have not had a single problem with the pump or any other part.  If my husband drank a lot of coffee I would just get a nice pot though since the pods of coffee are more expensive then just buying beans/grounds.  I do think it is perfect since I am the only coffee drinker in the house.

  • we have had one for two and a half years and have never had a problem. it is great for us since we don't like to drink the same kind of coffee... so we both get what we want and it's super low maintenance
  • We love ours. We only drink a cup or two on the weekends and a cup in the morning so it's perfect for us. We've had ours for over a year and not a single problem.

  • I have one. We don't currently use it b/c it keeps telling me I need to de-scale it - even after I've already done it!

Here's what I didn't like about it. The k-cups are very expensive - they come out to over $20 a lb, even at places like Costco. You never end up using all the flavors in a variety pack so there's waste. I prefer very bold coffee so I just started scooping my own, takes out the convenience factor of the keurig.

Also, we drink very large cups, so it's a pain in the butt to have to fill it back up to make 2 cups, in addition to emptying out and cleaning the scooped coffee.

We received it as a gift and used it for a while but ended up going back to our old coffee maker with a basket and large pot.

My mom, on the other hand, loves hers. She's the only coffee drinker in her house and uses the cups, so it works great for her.

    HTH.

  • My bro got one for us for x-mas - and I HATE it.  I wanna regift it back to him.  I think he got it for us b/c he wanted one.

My pump doesn't always work.  It randomly doesn't give me a full cup of coffee & will only make 1/2 or 1/3 cups.  So, then I have to refill it restart it and do it again.  Plus, I only like some of the coffee types - and the others I just didn't prefer the flavor.  I found the individual coffees rather expensive - even with coupons if and when I had them.

I have gone back to my old coffee pot..and couldn't be happier.

    Just my opinion though.

  • LOVE IT! My dad had one in the house when I lived with him. It made the best coffee ever! I'd only drink coffee if it came out of the keurig. I have one on my wedding registry. However, I'm hoping to get one for the new house before then lol.

  • I have the Keurig Mini in black and I LOOOOVE it. No complaints whatsoever.

It makes great tasting coffee, it's been working great (had it since January), and it's so low maintenance compared to all the cleaning our regular coffee maker required.

It also takes up much less room on our counter top and we have a much wider variety of hot drinks now because they're all individually sealed (with a regular coffee maker we would only just have one type because no one likes stale coffee!).

As long as I'm living my baby you'll be.

  • Also, it's an expensive coffee maker, so if you're only a casual coffee drinker, it's a big investment, IMO.

  • I have had mine for over a year and have not had one single problem with it.  I love it.  I could not imagine not having it.  There are some brands/flavors that I do not like.  I did not like the Gloria Jeans coffees.  Like pp, I love the Green Mountain and Caribou - those are the only two I buy now.  Green Mountain has a really good one - Rainforest Nut or something, that is my favorite.

  • We have one at the office and it works great.  There are only 2 of us here though, so it's not like it's over worked.  We've had it for about 3 years and never had a problem.  I have found some flavors of the coffee that I don't like, but that could be cause I use a little coffee with my cream and sugar...The pods are more expensive than grounds, but it was perfect for an office of 2 and those random clients that ask for some coffee.
On that note...I do have a normal coffee maker at my house

  • In regards to someone saying that sometimes they would not get a full cup that it could be random with the amount it made.  We had the company that brings our coffee that a look at ours at work once because it was doing the same thing.  He said that sometimes the needle that pokes through the pod can get clogged with coffee (made sense when he explained it) it seemed to happen more so with darker roast coffee.  He cleaned that and ran just a cup of water to help clean it and it worked perfect again.
  • I have one and I love it.  We've had it for 2 1/2 years and have never had any issues with it.  We usually use it once or twice a day.  I've tried a lot of different coffee brands and I like Timothy's the best and I also like Green Mountain.  We also use ours for tea.  My only complaint is that it is noisy-but not a big deal.
  • I love mine! My 2 sisters and my parents also have one and none of us have had any problems. We use bottled water in it to help keep it clean. It is perfect for us, my husband leaves for work earlier than I wake up. If you can give me another coffee maker that makes a cup of coffee in under a minute then I might try it. Otherwise nothing beats the Keurig! I like flavored coffee and my husband doesn't so that helps too! It makes great hot chocolate too!!
  • We don't have a Keurig but have a Bosch Tassimo and we love it.  DH makes several cups a day and we haven't had a problem with it at all.  It makes fantastic tea as well.

  • I love mine!  DH drinks his coffee at work, and I got so tired of brewing a pot - and then having to clean it - for my own cup a day.  The Keurig works great for me, and I find the coffee very good.  I usually buy the Green Mountain Breakfast Blend at Target.

  • DH and I love love love our Keurig.  I will say that it broke...(maybe the motor?), but after having it for about 10 months, but DH called customer service and we sent in one part of it, and they sent  a brand new Keurig.  So if you have any problems customer service was great.  This coffee maker is the best.

  • We've had ours over a year and love it. I usually order coffee from kenozacoffee.com since you can order 5-pack samples of all different kinds. It's nice when you want to try a certain flavor but don't want to buy a whole box full!

  • We have the Keurig Platinum and it is the best coffee maker for us. I only have one cup a day and DH only has coffee at home on the weekends. I was throwing out TONS of coffee. Not anymore. As for the price of the cups, I use coffeeforless.com and they are about 11 bucks for 24 cups (plus you can find coupons for the website online). My parents and my sister all also have one. Dad had trouble with his but it was immediately replaced by the company. Also, about the noise, the newer models have a noise reduction feature. They are not as loud as they used to be.
