REC your stroller...

Ok so we really need to buy one..we have the snap and go which I have been using but poor Lorenzo has been sweating so bad when we go on walks- I was looking at the city mini (doesnt someone have this?) and the jeep one...how do these travel (we're going to MA in Aug and Mexico in Sept)? should I buy two (one for walks, local and one for travel)?

Re: REC your stroller...

  • LOVE our Bob stroller.  However, for traveling esp to mexico I would just bring a $15 umbrella bc it will collapse smaller than regular strollers.  And then depending on the checking fees at the airport you could always just ditch it there.

  • Love our Jeep, but wouldn't travel with it. We have a Chicco lightway for travel, I grabbed a $15 gate check bag and we just dropped it at the gate as we boarded the plane.
  • We also LOVE our Jeep (Liberty Limited - not Sport) and have travelled with it via car just fine.  Haven't travelled by plane yet, but wouldn't bring it for that.

  • We have a city mini.  It's great for walks around town and shopping.  The storage is small and hard to get into, near impossible when reclined.  But we love the full recline, sunshade, easy fold, and weight.  I don't know if I would travel with it on a plane.  So far we've used a carrier more.
  • Just agreeing with PP's - we traveled with our graco and it was a bit of a pain - it was nice to have somewhere to put all of our stuff, but it was big and bulky and just another thing to lug around.

for travel, go with a cheap umbrella.  We've got the chicco, its great for short trips and its nice and light.

  • I think its mszoeb that has the single city mini and Jewels bought the double.. I pushed the double around in Buy Buy Baby the other day and it is REALLY nice.. but $$$!

I got a used Jeep stroller.. an older version of this one.. https://www.target.com/Kolcraft-Jeep-Liberty-Limited-Stroller/dp/B001V7QUAU/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&searchView=grid5&qid=1278955160&frombrowse=0&fromGsearch=true&node=1038576%7C1287991011&keywords=Jeep%20Stroller&searchSize=30&id=Kolcraft%20Jeep%20Liberty%20Limited%20Stroller&searchBinNameList=subjectbin%2Cprice%2Ctarget_com_primary_color-bin%2Ctarget_com_size-bin%2Ctarget_com_brand-bin&searchNodeID=1038576%7C1287991011&searchRank=target104545&sr=1-9&searchPage=1&rh=

And I REALLY REALLY REALLY love it.. It handles great.. Eve is comfy in it.. (it reclines really far so she can nap).. I don't really take it places THAT often because it is a bit heavy.. we walk a lot of places so i use it for that.. but I had it in my car on Saturday (I have a forester) and it fit fine, even with my umbrella stroller already in the back..   The plus side is the newer ones also accept most carseats, so you can use it like that too.. and I think they have an Ipod hook up.. Mine doesn't have either of those.. but thats ok..

  • We have a BOB and love it.  When we went to Chicago the first time, we thought the BOB would be too big and bulky to travel with so we brought an umbrella and regretted it.  It was very sunny, and umbrellas just don't have good sunshades.  Since we do a ton of walking when we go there, we bring the BOB- the wheels pop off easily so it can get through the metal detectors, and Rosie is more comfortable in it.

However, it totally depends on how much walking you'll do.  If it's just airports and some light strolling, then I would bring an umbrella.

  • We have the Baby Jogger Summit and LOVE LOVE it! DH is obsessed with it. When I was researching strollers Baby Joggers strollers we ranked extremely high. One feature that we love about it that I don't think many other strollers have is the one hand quick fold system. Really helps when you have a baby or other things in your hands. It's also super smooth. We wanted something that would be good on the sidewalks and streets but also good it we took it on trails at parks, etc. It also has lots of different accessories you can get for it too....like a little cooler bag for the basket part, cup holders, etc.
