Baby Shower Music

Need ideas for a CD/playlist for background music at my sister's baby shower...  any suggestions? It's a girl, the shower is in 2 weeks at her home, mid-day with inside and outside entertaining. TIA!

Re: Baby Shower Music

  • Here's one I just googled and found.

I personally just prefer some light vocal music like Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Harry Connick, Jr, Michael Buble, etc.

  • Not to be a downer...but before you go to tons of work:  DH's uncle made 4 CDs of music for background at our coed shower a few weeks ago - and people were too loud so we couldn't hear the music most of the time.  It just got turned off.

I can see this happening at showers often. It's an event to talk and mingle... I dont' really think background music is needed. People will just spend the time trying to talk over the music, which will just get drowned out.

But you want suggestions, so I would suggest thinking of the sort of songs they play during dinner at wedding receptions. Sinatra sort-of stuff.

  • For my sister's shower, I downloaded a bunch of 50's/60's malt-shoppy songs onto an iPod, then put the player under a table.  Yes, not everyone could hear it all the time when they were sitting at their tables, but when people came to sign the books, drop off their gifts, or grab food, it was audible.  And the music wasn't stuff you hear every day. :)
