I bought DD a cute little gold chain necklace this week on vacation with a locket. She's been infatuated with the necklace I wear for a while, and sometimes I let her try it on for a few minutes at a time, but at what age do you think they are 'mature' enough to wear one all the time, or at least during the day? I know she isn't ready yet so I will put it away until it's time, just wanted some opinions on the matter.
Re: when will you let DD wear a necklace?
My friend's DS left the hospital with a gold chain. Her husband is from Mexico and apparently it's cultural for them to receive and wear jewelry from the time of birth. I've never once seen him mess with the necklace at all.
My DS (#1), on the other hand, still can't wear a necklace. He wants to, but he always takes them off and loses them. I think it just depends on the child.
I am not a big jewelry person myself, so it's not like I'm biding my time, waiting until my DD can wear jewelry.
I would let her wear a necklace to school if she asked and there was a compelling reason to wear one. She has a few nice necklaces given to her by her grandmothers in the past, but she has not asked to wear them to school, and I haven't pushed it. She's almost 10.
