whiff of oven cleaner?

so I had a cleaning service come out on Wed and do the complete house (we hadn't done a thorough cleaning since we moved in like 3 years ago)....

I also asked them to clean the oven since I can't stand the fumes from oven cleaner...so today I was getting ready to bake some banana bread and started pre-heating the oven and I saw some smoke coming out....i opened the door and got a big whiff of the oven cleaner residue smoke (apparently the leftover residue just burns away). It smoked up the kitchen for a few minutes (I just went away from it) and then cleared....

can this kind of thing hurt the baby? I didn't inhale the direct fumes for an hour or anything.....

  • I know that you have been through a lot, and being nervous about things is VERY normal...we have all been there and have tons of worries (so don't feel like you shouldn't be asking these questions) but you are in the homestretch, and your little one is doing GREAT!!  Try to relax and enjoy these last precious weeks of having your LO all to yourself!  This last phase is going by so quickly! (((((HUGE HUGS TO YOU!!!!))))

PS.  I'm pretty sure that at this point, there are very few environmental issues that can cause our babies harm in such small amounts...if it didn't make you feel sick, then I'm sure it didn't do anything to the babe.

  • I think you're okay.  I'd be more concerned if you were at the beginning of your pgcy.
  • ugh thanks!...you are right, I am a paranoid basket case because I am so worried that something will go wrong at this late stage  - and I still have this blasted UTI that they can't seem to get rid of (the doctor called it a tenacious bug)...i just want my baby to get here safely....

  • you are fine. I get the anxiety, but according to my peri 'babies are resilient'.  At this point, you have less to worry about than at the beginning.

I can't wait for you to meet your little girl!
