I might have enough time to finish this..but we will see!
First of all I think my 1st due date was right June 27th, not the one they gave me for July 12th. Alot of things make me believe that so for those of you who are almost 42 weeks good luck to you cause I know how it feels to be VERY overdue!
Saturday I posted about hoping it was the real deal and sure enough around 7 am contractions got 4 minutes appart lasting a minute long. So we headed to L&D. On the ride there they slowed ALOT and I was afraid it was just false labor. I was a 1cm on Thursday at my appointment and when they checked me I was a 3.5. So they had me walk around and around and around and around....checked me again and no change so they sent me home (10:00am) I had been losing mucus for about a week and lost alot that morning.
My hubby and I got in the car and contractions got worse...I was telling him that we are having this baby today. We went home which was about 20 minutes from the hospital and got some lunch. We stopped at my favorite coffee shop and I had 3 contractions while we were waiting for the food to get there. By the time we got home I was crawling out of my seat leaning up against the door working through the contractions. They felt so much better standing then sitting! We went over to my IL's house (right next door) and I told my Hubby it was time to time them again. This time they were coming 2 minutes lasting for a minute and half. I then told him to get back in the car because we were having the baby.
The next 15 minutes were total movie like labor. He was driving 90 down the interstate. I was in the back seat knealing moaning through them and breathing through them. I was refusing to sit period. It hurt so much worse. We arrived back at the hospital at 12:40ish Once we got to the hospital and got to L&D they checked me again and I was a 6. She monitored me long enough to get the heart beat and I was begging to stand. They finally got me to a room and my husband and I just worked through the contractions, swaying like an akward middle school dance. I felt alot of pressure and asked to be checked again at 1:45ish and I was a 9. I was in so much pain because my water hadn't broke yet. So she broke it for me which was a HUGE relief.
I continued to work through my contractions as the Dr prepped for delivery. By 2:40 I was pushing and he was born about 10 minutes later. Pushing was the most amazing thing ever it felt so great to push. He has a huge bruise covering his face, because he came so fast. I didn't think he was breathing at first. Other then that he is a good 7lb 20inch long BOY- Colton Richard. We were expecting a little girl! So that was a shock!
It was the first time my body has done this on its own, I have been induced 2 times before and I would say that if we ever had another one I would refuse inducing because the natural contractions were way easier then pitocin contractions. I felt so proud of myself for going natural and my husband was my biggest supporter. I did yell at him a few times...but ya know that comes with the territory. GL to all of you guys! See you in 0-3
Re: Birth Story- Natural and a SURPRISE!
Congrats on your new baby boy! That would be a total shock!
Wow, congratulations! Sounds like it went very well.
I see from your sig (Addilyn) and your post that you were expecting a girl. Was this confirmed through sonograms -- wrongly! -- or were you just hoping? I hear that's pretty rare for them to get wrong! I'm glad I'm going in for another one -- I'd be shocked if I wound up with a boy at this juncture.
Good luck with the baby! Naturally,w e want to see pics... even if you're waiting for the bruise to fade, poor little guy. :-)
Wow, congratulations!!!
You were expecting a girl and had a boy instead?!? That's my worst fear because everything is pink! How many weeks were you when you had your big U/S?
Wow, that's amazing! Congrats on a safe natural birth and that baby boy!!!!!
I can't imagine the shock of hearing that when you've expected a girl all these months!
Hey, at least you've already got plenty of boy stuff at home
Congrats on your baby boy!
Did you see 3 white lines at your big US or what? Share with us please!
Fabulous story--congratulations!
congrats and thanks for posting your story...I too am concerned about having a surprise boy as he will be wearing pink for 9 months.
I also was induced for my first and had worried this labour would be much worse since I intend to go completely natural.
Again, congrats!
