? about taking baby shopping

I am taking her for her first "outing" to Target, LOL. I will be alone, so I am nervous that it will go well! When taking your baby on a shopping trip, do you put the car seat inside the basket part of the shopping cart, or on the top where a toddler would sit?? That always seems unsafe to me :(

Re: ? about taking baby shopping

  • My carseat snaps into the part of the toddler section and I hold her carseat when pushing as well.
  • Loading the player...
  • Well, I have a Baby Trend infant seat and I can tell you that those don't fit real well in the top of the shopping cart.

But, I much prefer to put DD in my Moby wrap while shopping. That way I know she'll be happy, I have two hands free, and I can fit through all the tiny aisles of the baby department (Target is not really shopping cart friendly!).

If you don't have a sling or carrier, Target does sell them!

  • My Car seat doesn't fit in the "toddler" area in target carts but I put it in the cart part because it makes me nervous too...
  • I have a Chicco carseat and they are made too big (on purpose) to fit in the seat part of a cart. Even if I didn't have this carseat, I would feel safer with DD in the basket. The downside-you can't fit alot in your cart. Well....maybe that's a good thing! Smile
  • My Chicco doesn't fit into any carseat.  :(

I use a sling when shopping.

  • um... not carseat.  I mean CART.  Wink
  • I put him in the basket part of the cart or else I use the Bjorn.

  • i put her car seat in the top part- we have a graco and it snaps in.  if i have my older dd w us i put her in a sling and it works really well and my hands are free.

  • I have the Chicco and have learned which carts work with it. My DD hates the carseat anyway, so I usually take her out of it and put her in her stroller or use  a sling/other carrier. The Chicco is really bad with Walmart and Costco carts. It doesn't fit in snugly and sits way too high. If I do put her up in the front part of the cart, I always keep one hand on it to be safe.

  • I have put her in the toddler section before when I did our weekly grocery shopping (I needed the room) but besides it not feeling very safe, I actually didn't like it because I couldn't see around her very well!! I did once run over some guy's foot because he was in my "blind spot" lol. So I always put her in the bigger part now and shove food wherever I can.
