Babies: 3 - 6 Months

3 Month old question...

My lo is 3 months old ... she was born 3 weeks early but has caught up in weight...

i keep reading these books and it says what she should be doing right now and she isnt... she doesnt even try to roll over... she can some what hold her head steady when i am holding her but then it goes limp ... she hates tummy time and does not hold her head up when doing it... any suggestions is she really behind all other babies?

Re: 3 Month old question...

  • No she isn't. Penny was almost 4 months old before she started to roll over and has never liked tummy time...ever! lol

All babies are diffrent and will reach the milestones when they are ready

p.s.haha your screen name and my babies name are the same :)

Mine didn't roll over until 4 months, 1 week. She always hated tummy time but it's getting better. She's had great control of her head since early on, but like this poster said 'all babies different'. Your baby isn't behind, don't worry about it. Just keep at it! The only way LO will learn things is repetition, so even though she hates TT, keep it up. I also suggest propping up on the boppy. :)

  • Don't get too anxious about that, I know it's hard not to compare.

Just continue to play with your DD, mine also hated tummy time at 3 months, well she still does, but can do it for longer periods of time now.

Put a mirror in front of her when doing tummy time..  it has been more appealing than a toy... whatever time she's confortable with..

and try to be calm... it's amazing how they sense stress... Wink

  • Catching up in weight does not mean that LO has developmentally caught up.  Her age is still 3 weeks behind, so she should be doing what a 2 month old is doing.  Read one month behind in the books for your LO.
  • DD still isn't rolling over either. Don't worry...she will do everything when she's ready.
