Is she constipated?

DD usually poops at least once a day but yesterday she didn't poop at all. I wasn't worried because this also happened on Friday and pooped on Saturday.

This morning the poor little thing was straining so hard to poop. I've never seen her try this hard. Then when I went to change her diaper, it was much more solid than usual.

Is she constipated?

    Is the poop hard?  From your description, it doesn't sound like constipation to me.

    Hard poop = Constipated

    Not pooping for a few days = normal, and not constipation.

    If you say the poop is hard, then yeah, your LO might be. Did you recently start a new formula or solid food? Some solid's are constipating, like Rice cereal.

    This same exact thing happened to DD this weekend. She hadn't pooped since Thursday night, so DH called the on-call pedi on Saturday afternoon. They said it is not even classified as 'constipation' until they go at least 3 days of no poop. DD pooped yesterday around noon (finally) and it was much more solid than normal... I BF but we have also been supplementing more with formula the last 2 weeks since I returned to work, so that probably had something to do with it.

    Last time I noticed she wasn't pooping well I at a Fiber One bar and it cleared me out and worked on her as well! LOL!

    She's on formula only but she's going through a growth spurt and has been eating much more than normal in the past week.

    If her next few poops are still hard I would call the pedi and see if there is something you can give her to soften her poop. I hope your LO feels better soon!
