First prenatal yoga class today

It was so fun! I got to meet other mom's to be from my neighborhood, and got a preview of what I can expect when I get further along. Believe me, if you're like me and have been on an exercise hiatis since BFP, a little goes a long way.  Pre-pregnancy I would have walked out because it was too easy. But today I took advantage of ALL the little breaks and variations. We even did some yoga variety of kegels which could come in handy.  If you can, I'd recommend finding a class near you.

  • They have them in my town through parks and rec but it's at 11am on Saturdays, such an inconvenient time. I get up at 7/8am on the weekends so 9:30/9 would work much better for me. I want to do it, but it's going to really interfere with my summer.

  • I really want to take prenatal yoga, but can't deal with the $15-20 per class cost I'm finding. I'd like to be able to go once a week and $60+ a month is ridiculous for 4 classes. I may end up buying some DVD's and maybe take a class or two here and there.

Ours is $55 for 11 weeks I think, I almost feel guilty not doing it

Yeah, my class was $20.  But since I cancelled my monthly gym membership, and don't drink, I am justifying it:)

    oops, meant to quote stbmittleman...

  • I had my first class on saturday, it was fun!  I paid $250 for 20 classes.  Not cheap but I have no other vices these days!

That's way more reasonable and I wouldn't mind paying that. As is it, I've been wanting to join a gym again to get out of the house since I'm not working and DH b!tches about not wanting to pay for a gym membership, so I'm sure he would complain about yoga and just tell me to get a DVD.

  • i wish i had prenatal yoga near me, or actually any decent yoga studio!  if i want any good classes i would have to drive 45-50 min one way.

you should always see if a yoga studio has a sort of one time visitor deal where you could try a class for a reduced price.  never hurts to ask.  i know one of the yoga studios i had looked at had 1 week free.  if you are new to yoga i would definitely recommend a class so you know you are doing the poses right.

  • sounds fun! I'm going to google some local classes now. I recently just stopped taking my Pilate's class. i know you can buy the DVD's to follow too.

  • Someone posted a while back about prenatal yoga being on watch instantly on netflix. I just started it this morning and I loved it. It stretched me out pretty well. I've been getting some annoying leg cramps when I sleep (since I'm sleeping on my side now) and I hope prenatal yoga will help it out.
