Re: Clicky Poll: Diapers on Registry?

  • I think its okay to put one pack of a couple different brands on there to try them out - but I wouldn't register for a whole lot of one single brand - you may decide you don't like that brand.  (ex. my kids always leak out of Pampers - ALWAYS, never fail, one pee = a leak.  We are a Huggies or Kirkland family through and through.  Other people hate Huggies.)

  • With both cloth and sposies, I hear that it depends on the child and how the fit works. . Just because x diaper works great with my child, doesn't mean it will work with yours. This is why I think you should just hold off, buy your own diapers, after you try a brand or two.  No sense in having tons of leaky diapers you need to use and/or exchange.

  • We plan to cloth diaper our baby so we're hoping people don't waste their $$.

Unfortunately, there's nowhere around here to buy CDs, so we'll be ordering a variety online.

  • When I had DD, we didn't register for any.  I kinda look at it the same way as formula....you never know what your baby will tolerate or be allergic to.  My mom said that my brother (her first kiddo) would break out in terrible diaper rash from Luvs and Pampers, so she went with all Huggies.  Trial and error.  We were pretty lucky that my mom bought us lots of Huggies with DD, and she didn't have any reaction to them.

Also, people do buy you lots of diapers.  I also had friends pass down their left over ones that they didn't use with their kids.

I picked "Other" - I have some one-size cloth diapers on my Amazon.com registry. I've already purchased my newborn stash, but would like a few more items for my one-size stash.

  • I will put my cloth diapers on the registry (if I decide to do a registry). I don't think that people will buy them, because they are not found in the stores, but I do want to alert anyone who may want to buy me a gift that I will be using cloth (so they don't waste money on disposables).
  • I put several different diapers in different sizes on our registry the first time. (You can do this after your shower, if you don't necessarily want people to buy you diapers.) You can actually use the completion coupon on them, so if you wait a few weeks to find out what diapers work... 10% off plus coupons is a great thing.

  • Yes, because of many reasons posted above, but also because we get 15% percent off  to do the completion registry at Babies R Us. You can buy a bunch of diapers of the ones you do like as long they are on the registry.

  • I put diapers on there because I figure that people will get me diapers whether I like it or not and so I just registered for certain sizes to give people an idea of what kind of sizes have been purchased since we are hoping to get a bit of a range instead of a lot of newborn diapers that won't be used before the baby grows out of them. Kind of doing the same with clothes too.

ChelMcQ - I'm not sure what you're looking for, but they sell them at our WalMart, both the thick ones and the really thin ones!  They're in the baby department by the onesies here.  They may not be the kind you want though.

  • We're going cloth. I put a bunch of different cloth dipes on the registry hoping that people would notice and NOT get any disposables. I doubt anyone will buy us any though... we're getting a lot of "you're crazy for thinking you'll use cloth" and "that'll last about a week."

  • I wish I had.  NO ONE bought me diapers.  not that I expected it, but I was surprised because everyone said I would receive SOO many.

I would put 1 size Newborn, size 1, and 2 in the brand you are going to use.

  • I haven't had any problems exchanging/returning diapers in the past so bring 'em on.

  • We will be cloth diapering and diapers are the thing I'd most like to get as a gift.
  • My husband wants to have what he calls a Diaper Party.  Where all his guy friends and family come over for food and drinks, but to attend you must bring at least one pack of diapers.  He thinks its a great idea, kinda like a baby shower for men!
