Babies: 0 - 3 Months

when and how often do you bathe LO?

LO is 6 weeks old and she sleeps most of the time in between feedings.....

she wakes up really hungry almost all the time, so I really cannot do her bath before a feeding.

But I am afraid of her being upset and spitting up alot if I do it after a feeding.....

and thinking that bathing her every 4 days or so is not too much??

Re: when and how often do you bathe LO?

  • We bathe LO every day.  He has reflux and no matter how well we clean him up all day, he smells like sour milk by the evening.  He also loves his bath, so we give him one every night before bed.

  • LO is 7 wks.  We do it every night before her last bottle.  It's part of our bedtime routine and she loves the bath.  It's not long, like 5 mins, so it doesn't put off her meal too much.
  • every 3 days at 6 weeks.

We just recently started every other day.

She spits up after every single meal (and in between). We just wipe her down. Im not comfortable bathing her every day (plus I hate to waste the water).

I bath her in the afternoon, usually.

  • We do every other night.

  • this exactly.

The bath calms her down while waiting on her bottle to heat up, after bottle we do story and bedtime :).  When we started this routine she started sleeping between 6-7 hours for her nighttime stretch.

  • every night before her last bottle! she likes her bath and she knows afterward she gets feed
  • Around 6 weeks I started a bath every night to kick off bedtime routine. She gets one every night with soap in the tub every other night. She LOVES it and it made bedtime SO. MUCH. EASIER. Cannot stress that last part enough! I dreaded bedtime and tried several different things. When we finally started a bath then diaper, swaddle, eat then rock to sleep and into bed, it has worked wonders!
  • He gets his bath around 9-9:30 before his last 6 oz bottle for the night. He too loves his bathtime, but we let him play in the water for about 10 minutes then wash him up, so he's usually pretty tired and hungry... and he gets a bath every night.

  • Tub time is every night within the seven pm hour; usually it's tub time, nursing, hanging out until she's sleepy, then down for bed and then we can eat dinner and hang out. We dream feed her at 11pm but since I go back to work tomorrow, I'm enjoying nursing her around 10pm with us on the sofa to have some more time before she goes back to sleep.

  • Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday nights. When she starts crawling we'll start bathing her every night - but right now she just doesn't need it, because she doesn't get that dirty.

If though, something happens (throw-up or a major blow out) we'll do it on a case by case basis. Otherwise, just those three days.
