Crib Sheets ??

I HATE fitted crib sheets.  It's such a PITA to put them on.  Specially now that we have the bumper pads on.

Does anyone know of any alternatives?

Re: Crib Sheets ??

  • I don't know of any alternatives...I just take the whole mattress out and put on the new sheet then pop it back into the crib.  We don't have bumpers though...I am rethinking that now that Libby was wacked her head on the crib and gotten her legs stuck between the slats. *sigh*

  • Teri, I have heard many girls rave about the Summer Infant crib sheet on the board... maybe it would work for your needs too?  Sorry for the monster link :)

Me too. It doesn't bother me any more than putting fitted sheets on our bed so I never bothered with the ultimate crib sheets. Stick out tongue

  • It doesn't really bother me... I only change it once a week? It never gets dirty, so it's just a matter of changing it for cleanliness. Do you change it more often? Like the pps said, you can try the Ultimate Crib sheet too. We have one but I didn't like the snaps, I thought THAT was a PITA! Oh, and we use the Breathable Bumpers to keep Alexa from reaching thru the slats.

Me too - it only gets the very occasional drool on it, never poop or anything, so I seldom need to change them more than once a week. Maybe that's why it doesn't bother me?

Last week Elyse woke up in a sea of poop THREE times!  My life seriously revolves around poop.  This week she's peeing through her diaper.  So I've changed the sheets nearly every day for a few weeks now.  I only changed it once a week prior to this as well.

I used to just take the mattress out, but now we have the bumper pads on because E kept getting her legs stuck through the slats or cracking her head on them.

  • I should add that I'm REALLY not complaining that she's peeing through her diapers, because she's STTN.  I'm just experimenting with doublers to have them be more absorbant.

Do you hear that karma gods... I'm not complaining about STTN - just the damn sheets Stick out tongue

  • I notice that Elyse is 6 months, so I assume she's on solids now? Once they start actually EATING more solids, around 7-8 months, the poo becomes much more formed, which should cut down on the nighttime blowouts? At least that was the case with A's poo, although (knock on wood) she's never had a nighttime blowout before.

You also might want to look at foods that "firm" her output as opposed to clean her system... i.e. skip pears and prunes and go for bananas and oatmeal.

As for peeing through, she's done that before, but only slightly so that a tiny bit got on her sleep clothes and not even the sleep sack. One tip is to use a larger size diaper for nighttime than you use during the day because a larger diaper has more absorbant surface. Just make sure you make it tight enough and that the elastic around the legs is on right.

(Not sure if you are using cloth diapers? Some cloth diaper moms use disposables at night only...)

HTH! Just thought that maybe cutting the frequent changes might help more than getting different sheets! Either way, hopefully it's just a phase that will soon pass. :-)

wow that's crazy! i've never seen miss A poop while sleeping or in the middle of the night during dream feeds.  she usually only poops when she is wide awake!

did you know that her banging her head on the crib could be from teething pain? i had no idea until i read that recently in a baby newsletter. go figure! we have bumpers on our crib too and taking the mattress out to change the fitted sheet is a pain!!
