My mom had mine pierced (at the doctors office) at 6 months. I think having it done early is ideal. Even if I don't wear earrings for a while my holes stay open because my mom kept earrings in them all the time when I was little. I got a second hole done as a teenager and it has already closed over because I wouldn't keep earrings in them.

If I had a girl I would definitely do it.
I agree. I wasn't that young when my mom got mine done but I kept them in so long that my holes won't close up. I rarely wear earrings anymore but I still can when I want to.
I also got a second hole right after I graduated hs and it has closed up because I didn't wear it enough.
I got DD1 one done at the pedi and DD2 done at Claires. If you go the Claires route, make sure you ask for the manager to do it versus some teenager. It was actually really clean and the gun is disposable and sterile in the packaging.
I had DD's done at Claire's when she was about 7 months old. Like PP said, I had a manager do them and it was very clean. I felt comfortable after going in and seeing everything and talking to the manager. She was very good with DD and took her time. DD didn't do bad at all - she cried for about 3 minutes and that was it. I think it's easier to do them when they are young.
Okay ... thanks everyone ... I also had mine done at my pedi's office when I was an infant ... unfortunately, our pedi said that docs don't do it anymore so I wasn't really sure where I should have it done and wasn't sure if somewhere like claire's would do it ... anywho, thanks again.
This is totally weird, and probably not much help because it's not local, but SIL took her girls to a tattoo parlor in Austin. She said she figured they did a lot more piercings than the teenager w/ the piercing gun at Claire's in the mall and all of her girls (ages 4-7) swore it was absolutely painless. Just another idea.
My big boy is bounding towards 4! Baby brother coming in October!
