I wouldn't find it odd to not have the older sibling's picture on the announcement. As long as their name is included, I don't think it's a problem at all. Big sister presumably had her own announcement for her big arrival.

Nope not odd at all. It's a birth announcement for the baby not the sibling. I also wouldn't find it odd if the sibling's name wasn't on the announcement either.
It it makes you feel any better, I didn't do announcements for Maren and did do them for Blake. With Maren arriving 7 weeks early and dealing with that madness just sort of made me overlook it. The one for Blake was just him, and I didn't feel bad about it. I did, however, ask the gal if she would create one for Maren at the same time. She did and sent me the electronic file - which I had printed myself at Snapfish. So I do have a few for the photo album/nostalgia. We just won't mention they were never officially sent out. :whistles innocently:
I think it's fine. I got a birth announcement from a friend after their third child and only the newborn was in the picture but all of their names were on the announcement.

I never even considered putting a picture with Luca in it on Lila's announcement. I think the "group" shot is more of a Christmas card kind of thing. We were announcing her not him. His name was on the card, but just a pic of her.
I think it's BETTER to have JUST the new baby's picture without anyone else in it. #2 is going to deal with a lifetime of having #1 steal it's thunder/sharing/competing...it will be nice for #2 to look back and know this was all about her.

i think i'm in the minority on this, but i really liked having one pic on my announcements for #2 that included his older sister. (i had a trifold announcement with several pics on it though). it was a sweet pic of the two of them and i received so many comments on how sweet they looked together.
but, i agree and think it's fine to have only your new baby on the announcements. they're the reason for the new joy.
Re: birth announcement question
um, yeah, about that ....
I still blame Ike for it.

Ha ha...well count this as a rare instance where little sister gets something cool that big sister didn't.
The second seems fine.
We did one of Sean with just our names. I thought that was fair, since Lucas got to have his own.
I like both ideas, though.
