Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Anyone send a thank you note to labor and delivery nurse?

I sent mine last night. My son is 3 months.

I don't know if it's weird or not but I just felt compelled to let this woman know how much she helped me. She was absolutely amazing- 3 months later I am still thinking of her!

I hope she gets it. It is a large hospital and I just wrote Attn: labor and delivery and her name.

Anyway, just wanted to know if I was the lone dork in the group!

  • I did this as well.  My L&D nurses were AMAZING.  I sent them a birth announcement with a nice Thank you on the back.

  • Weird, literally minutes ago I was just thinking about this.  I also loved my labor and delivery nurse and was thinking sending a note would be a good way to let her know how awesome she is.
  • I was thinking about that too. I work for a gift company and I was thinking about sending a gift to the daytime maternity nurse I had. She was great and was such a  hard worker. I could see that she worked harder than all of the other nurses there. Money is tight right now, so maybe just a thank you note would do.

  • I work in L&D and we get them all the time, you are not weird!  I love getting them from patients because even though it's "my job" as a nurse, I still get teary at some births and really connect with people once in a while.  It's not like we're carrying out your groceries or something!  Glad to know that you connected well with your nurse, it can make all the difference in your birth experience.
  • First of all, my L&D nurse was a _bitch.  There's a lot more to the story but when my water (clearly) broke she told my mom "oh, don't you think she's ready to push, that is just her mucus plug" in a very rotten way.  I could go on and on about this nurse.

Second, I ran into her and her (crazy ass) daughter at my 6 week pp check up and she had no memory whatsoever of me.

So no, I didn't send a thank you note.  Thanks for what, making my already miserable experience even worse?

  • I really should send a thank you to my L&D nurse because she was amazing!  Maybe I will, even though DD is almost 4 months old! I don't think its dorky at all. I'm sure she greatly appreciated it.
  • mine asked for pics and updates, buy i had a very traumatic birth
  • ds was in the nicu for a week and i was also in the hospital for an extra 5 days due to an infection, so i brought cupcakes for the l&d nurses and nicu nurses with thank you notes. i got to know a few of them really well in that week!
