I O anywhere between CD12 and CD17 and this is our first month doing IUI. The RE had mentioned that if I didn't get a + by CD16, I needed to do a trigger. Since that is tomorrow, I called today and they are having me come in tomorrow morning to do an u/s and also the trigger? I have not even had a faint line on the OPKs so far this month - typically it builds up a for a couple of days before a +, but I've had nothing so far. Is the trigger just a higher dose of the hcg? I have some at home already because I've been taking it after I O. How long after I do that will we go back in and do the IUI? She mentioned DH should come with me tomorrow just in case they do the IUI then -but will they really do that since I've had no indication that I'm close to O at all? We just really didn't even discuss any of this with the RE since I typically have no problem getting a +OPK on my own and then I would go in the next day.
BTW - this is my first month taking Clomid as well if that matters.
Re: IUI and Trigger questions
For me- IUI # 1 w/ clomid- I surged on my own on cd 15 and RE was closed for memorial day weekend, so we skipped the trigger and had IUI 24 hrs after + opk.
For IUI #2/clomid- I also surged on my own on cd 13, but RE was open for US. They did US that morning and did trigger in the office. I had IUI the next am.
THe *original plan* both months was to come in on cd 13 for an US and then trigger that night, IUI 36 hrs later. So if you haven't surged (+opk) and you are ready enough, they will proabably tell you to trigger at night (sa7 8pm) and then do IUI 36 hrs after trigger (8am 2 days later).
GL!
For the 3 Clomid IUI's I had they triggered me based on size of follicle and estrogen level then 36 hours later I had IUI.
I did IUI #1 and #2 24 hrs after the trigger and $3 36 hours after the trigger.
If your follies are 17+ then, they'll trigger you. If they feel like they're going to miss the opportunity unless they do it right away, they'll do it tomorrow without a trigger.
