So here are my tips for doing a better job than I did.
1. Make sure you hold your hand down and let enough blood develop before EACH of the 5 circles. I'm pretty sure I screwed up big time because some of the dots were small and I added extra drops to make them larger (and for some reason you aren't supposed to do that.)
2. If need be prick another finger for more blood. This is why they supply two lancets. Of coure being the big chicken I am I didn't want to be pricked more than once. Thanks to IVF I have had my fair share of needles and I am done!
Good luck!
Re: NT Home Blood Self Packet Ladies
Do you have to do it too? It's not that bad, I just didn't have the patience. I wouldn't be shocked if the company makes me do it over. Hopefully it will teach them a lesson that doctors should be doing this!!!!
Not that I know of, but I'm still really early -- the RE hasn't mentioned anything about this (yet). I've never heard of doing it yourself though, and it does seem to be a lot of work!
Your RE won't mention it. If you have to do it your OB will give you the packet at your first appointment. It goes with the NT scan, if you are doing that. Maybe you will be lucky and not have to do it at home. I feel like my OB's office has gotten lazy...they don't even take blood or urine anymore...they send me to Quest to do that. Just make the KU women run all over the place
Ohhh, OK....I was going to ask you if you've been released to your OB. I'm not sure if we'll do the NT scan or not. I'm sorry, it sounds like the whole thing is annoying
I'm pretty sure (based on my sister's last two pregnancies) that I'll have to go to Quest for blood work as well.
Congrats on your BFP! You are so very lucky that the IUI worked for you!
Thank you!! I am definitely lucky, and I'm extremely thankful right now. I'm still pretty nervous and I'm not sure it's really sunk in -- I'm sure you know the feeling!! I still look for blood every single time I pee - not sure when that will go away either. I had my first u/s yesterday at 5 weeks and they saw the gestational sac, but no yolk sac. I was assured this was OK, but I was still a little disappointed. There was a string of BFP's for the TTTC girls last month -- it was really nice to see. I wish they'd all be able to come over soon!
I'm just starting to relax and enjoy my pregnancy now. There was something about seeing them looking like babies and moving that put my mind at ease. Now I'm more worried about them being genetically OK than losing them. After my NT scan I'm sure I will feel really at ease. Hang in there, it does get better,

My boobies belong to cour10e
Is that what it is for???? Thank you! Figures my dr's office didn't explain it.
I don't think it's all that common to have to do it yourself, honestly. I know lots of women who have done the NT scan and none of them had to draw their own blood.
My NT is tomorrow and they'll be taking whatever they need from me while I'm there.
