Longies for warm weather babies?

I want to get DD a pair of wool longies... but we live in Florida. I mentioned it to MIL the other day and she thinks they'd be too hot & itchy. Is this really the case? (I'm guessing it's not the rough wool she's thinking of)

    I live in Houston and went to a discussion on CD at a birth fair. The woman there said that wool actually isn't bad in hotter climates because they breathe. You may not put them on in the height of summer, but in the winter it wouldn't be bad. you could always stick to shorts and soakers when the weather is hotter.
