1st Trimester

Belly button ring gone =(

I actually cried today when I took out my belly button ring. Belly is growing and it just needed to go. I hadn't removed it for almost 10 years and the memories of my teenage rebellious stage came rushing back. I love this new chapter in my life and I feel pathetic for crying but I'm still going to miss it Sad. At least it gave DH a nice chuckle!

Re: Belly button ring gone =(

  • I haven't taken mine out yet (and I have 4, lol) but I'm not really sure how I'm going to feel when I do.  I've had the top for about 10 yrs and I got the other ones within a year and a half.  I have 17 piercings though and these are the only ones going and the ones I'd miss the least so I think I'll be ok.  They don't look as good as they did when I was younger and skinnier Smile

  • I feel your pain. I know I am going to have to either take mine out or get one of the flexible preggie ones. I don't know what I am going to do but need to make a decision here soon, but I've had it since I was 17 and kinda don't want to let it go yet.....
  • I am dreading the day that I have to take mine out!  Same thing, I've had it for about 9 years.  It's become a part of me & I will probably resist taking it out until about the end of first tri.

  • They make cute flexible ones that I hear work well, I personally dont have a belly piercing, but if you want to keep it open, maybe you can look into the pregnancy ones?

  • Good news is you can wait a little longer...my doc said it probably wouldn't have to come out until around 20weeks.

Seen these but they just don't look very pretty on a big pregnant belly IMHO.  I'd rather just see it as letting go of a piece of the past & one day....after baby comes & mommy gets her P90X body, then maybe I'll get it pierced again.  :)

  • I didn't take mine out until around 20 weeks. I would still push the ring through once a day to make sure the hole didn't close. I put it back in once I was released from the hospital.

Oh this is brilliant!  :)  Seriously, something so simple & I would have never thought of it.

  • Learking over here but I left mine in during my whole pregnancy my midwife just told me to make sure I had a plastic one in . It was fine and im glad I kept it.

  • I took mine out last time in the 1st trimester. Since I had it pierced for so long it didn't close at all! I haven't worn one in months and I tried to put it in the other day and still not closed. Old piercings seem to stay open even for long periods of time at least mine do.
  • there are pregnancy rings you can put in to keep it.
  • Lurking from third tri here, but I actually just took mine out the other day.  I bought a pregnancy one about 2 months ago and didn't need to put it in until about 4 weeks ago (my Dr. advised it).  I JUST had to take out the pregnancy one out yesterday because it's starting to get caught on maternity clothes and it was getting irritated, however I do put it through my belly button twice a day because like you I have had mine for 10 years and an not ready to part with it.  If I have a nice flat belly after baby sans tons of stretch marks and feel like showing my belly again I will put it back in, if not then oh well, I've moved on from that chapter in my life!
