NBR: Bikini Wax

So I'm thinking about getting a bikini wax before my cruise in a few weeks. Anyone else do this regularly and have any tips? Hair length, how bad it hurts, etc....

I leave on July 30th and am curious if I should do it right before I leave or try and do it twice before then?

I think they say half inch on length and take advil like a half hour before hand. And I would get it done a day or two before you leave. And it doesn't hurt any worse than contractions did! Stick out tongue

Can I ask a dumb question? What exactly do they take off with a bikini wax? I always wonder why people don't just get a Brazilian instead? Embarrassed

SO, I'd do it twice - once, let it grow back (usually about 2 weeks+ of growth is fine), and then again a day or two before you go. You want about 1/4" of growth - as said, for most its about 2 weeks, for some its less or more. IF there's a whole heck of a lot more, they have to trim it before they wax it, and that's humiliating, so I'd say skip that. If there's not enough, they can't do it at all!

Take ibuprofen about 1/2 hour before - no drinking the night before or day of (you'll bleed more, your skin will be more sensitive). Try to space it far from your p-dot (can be more painful). Buy some tend skin, or ask them if they have something they can offer you to help the skin heal faster.

Expect to be slightly swollen and red for a few hours afterwards (totally normal) and by day 2, enjoy the hairless you!!!

While I always opt for a Brazilian, lots of women are uncomforable with the idea of someone poking around their bits and getting up on all 4's for the, er, nether regions of hair removal. It can be kind of embarrasing, and some estheticians won't even do Brazilians! A regular wax is just the bikini line - so the stuff that would show around your bathing suit - and often the hair of the top, or some of it anyway.

Ditto the Tylenol or Advil 1/2 an hour before. I get what they call an American Brazilian. It basically just leaves a little strip of hair. It goes down farther in the front and takes off more on the sides. I'm not going to lie, it can hurt. The first time I had it done, teh girl told me to put a bag of frozen veggies down my pants to help with the swelling/pain. I would definitely do it at least a day, maybe 2 before leaving. You wouldn't want to be all red and embarrassed!

i did it 2 times and it freakin hurt! Im not even sure it was worth i for me b/c my skin was all red and irritated for a few days after....lasted a while though

Bikini is a little of the "sides" and a bit off the top. Think Y shaped hair. ??
