Argh!!!!!
How does a store get away with claiming they have a "Maternity Department" when all they've really got is one rack of clothing in a back corner that may or may not fit someone who is pregnant somewhere? It's not like I live in a backwoods community. I shop in an urban town, for goodness sake! Old Navy, JC Penny, two Target stores and I'm empty handed. Grrrrr!
AND, while I'm at it, why am I being accosted by Back to School sales and displays? I'm a teacher. I know about back to school. And since I only finished school two weeks ago, I'm not at all interested in BACK TO SCHOOL! Argh!!!!
<deep breath> I think that was my official first crazy pregnant woman break down. Anyone else have to get something off her chest?
Re: Maternity clothes shopping vent
I am so jealous of these people who get an entire maternity wardrobe at Target. Our Targets suck or something. They have great regular clothes then zero good maternity stuff.
Don't even get me started on my Kohls!!! I have three - three!!! - and no luck.
That is great news. Thanks for the update.
i'm jealous of people who get target. we live in a pretty small town, the nearest big city (with target, shopping mall, and maternity options) is about 2 hours away.
but to OP, i hear ya on the maternity claim vent. our local kmart has a sign that says "maternity" on it, but there's *nothing* under it that is maternity...
so obnoxious.
I have no real advice for you, but I hate maternity clothes shopping. I'll vent with you. Shirts aren't that big of a problem right now, but I have narrow shoulders. Most of them probably won't fit me when I'm huge unless I go up a size and have the shoulders falling off. And pants can pretty much only be ordered online.
I have 3 things to return by mail to old navy bc "long" isn't actually long at all, they look like ankle length pants. I can't bring myself to spend $50-60 for jeans at Gap, so I'm hoping for a sale, and that they'll have my size left. I'm scared about how much I'll have to spend to get some decent work pants when school starts again.
Where are you finding them? On their website, the only pants they have in maternity are leggings? The pickings are SLIM! I'd love to see more pop up.
I ordered them about a week ago but you're right! I don't see them on there anymore either? There were also a few more shirts that I don't see anymore either. I have not gotten my pants yet but I got the confirmation e-mail that they have been shipped. Maybe they are redoing the website? I don't know I am sorry.

I found out about it from this blog. The second pair of jeans is what I ordered.
Granted I'm a little biased, but my best friend owns a maternity boutique. They have great comfortable and cute tops, jeans, and dresses. Costco has also started carrying their line, right now they are just in the western states - Texas to Oregon. I am wearing a pair of the Lilac branded jeans today in an XS ( I am normally about a size 4), and they are super comfy. Also, check out their 'Leah' top, its named after me!

I could have written that vent yesterday. I went to Ross, Target, JCPenny, Macy's, a hand full of smaller stores, and I couldn't find anything! The "maternity" sections were a joke. Ross's idea of maternity pants were spandex capri leggings with cutouts of hearts and stars around the calf. SERIOUSLY?! WHO dresses like that?
Anyways .... today I broke down and went to Motherhood Maternity in the mall. I did splurge on the jeans, they were $44 (which seems like a lot for temporary pants!), but I wear jeans all.the.time and I really liked these. I got some grey slacks for work for $19 and a shirt for $10.
Keep at it, you'll find something, I'm sure!
