1. What hobbies do you have that you have done for a LONG time?
I love photomanipulation and graphic design. If I had the time or chance, I could sit down for hours with my lap top and put ten different pictures together and make it look like it was originally one photo or a painting. But I can only do it if I'm in a certain mood or have certain motiviation. I don't do it if people ask me to. So I don't make gifts for people or let people pay me to edit their photos or make marketing designs or anything like that. Unless it strikes my fancy.
2. What new hobbies have you just recently started?
Well, I used to train dogs as a side job, and since I've been laid off this summer, I've been working with our terrier mix a lot. We're working on long-lead training in the field behind our apartments right now. And I think this week, I'm finally going to get my SD involved in it. Normally, I work with the dog when the kids are napping, but I think this week, I'm going to let SD get involved in re-call training. I think we're going to try some basic tracking and search commands.
3. What are things you hobbies you hope to pick up?
I'd like to be able to find some time to start writing again. I used to write all the time, not for anyone else's eyes, but for my own. I'm not really a poet, more a prose writer, but I have written a few poems.
4. Whats your favorite board game?
I've always loved checkers, but DH bought a spin off of Monopoly called Pornopoly that is pretty fun and humorous. Instead of being a real estate agent, you're a porn producer. You buy up porn stars and then buy photo shoots and movie shoots and collect money (more if you have so many photo shoots and movie shoots for that star) when other players land on them. You buy up strip clubs, latex factories, etc. And instead of jail, you go to the STD clinic. lol! It's pretty funny. Of course, it came from Spencer's.
Littemaybaby, i love your siggy! Any tips you can share? what camera do you use?

I really don't like board games, but I love card games. Bullsh!t is a favorite.
Do you ever go over to the photography board? The ladies there know so much and you can learn a ton!
I currently use a Nikon D300 - but when I got started I used a Nikon D40.
As for tips on the actual siggy picture, here's a post about how I set it up:

thank you! i am still trying to figure out what camera i should buy. im a complete newbie. I don't know if i should start with a used camera or a new one until i get the hang of it. Right now i'm reading through the 12 week coures from the two peas website.
The Two Peas 12 week course is an awesome resource. So is the book Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson.
The Photography Board on the bump is a great resource too. There are women over there with any camera you could imagine - so if you have model specific questions they are always willing to help. They are also willing to help with a million other things. I learn something new there every day!
The biggest "debate" about what camera to buy is the Nikon vs. Canon debate. Once you start with one brand, it's not cheap to switch. Lenses are compatible between cameras of the same brand, but not for different brands - so you want to make sure that even if you don't love your first camera or you know you want to upgrade later that you at least start with the brand you think you eventually want. (Unless of course your funds are unlimited! Then disregard that paragraph!
)
And honestly, then it's just a matter of personal preference. I highly recommend going to a Best Buy and playing with the cameras. Some people prefer the feel of Nikon and some prefer Canon. Neither is really better than the other. (I chose Nikon because my aunt is a professional photographer and I grew up playing with her back up cameras so Nikon was familiar to me.)
Ask me any questions any time! I obviously love talking about it!
Littlemay, i have an Olympus E420 - I lurk a lot over on the photography board although i haven't seen anyone with this camera. I'm such a newbie that i have no idea if this camera is crap! ( DH just bought it)
Definitely not crap! There is an Olympus user over there I just can't think of who off the top of my head.
Nikon and Canon are the two "major" brands but Olympus is a really good camera!
littlemaybaby! i love you! This is why I added you as a friend way back when. thank you for the advice and i hope you don't mind my continuous q's. If you get tired of me just tell me and i'll shut it!
Posting is the best way to get better. I was intimidated at first but PIP'ing and getting feedback really helps you learn faster
