chuy's jalapeno ranch recipe?

didn't someone have a knock off they found that is pretty close to the real deal?

Re: chuy's jalapeno ranch recipe?

  • I have tried many recipes without finding one that satisfies - so I'd be super excited if someone had a good approximation!

  • This is the one that mcgee posted a while back.  Last time I made it I used either fat free or low fat mayo and it was good, but I thought it needed a little something - maybe substitute sour cream for some of the mayo or use buttermilk.

    In food processor/blender:
1 can tomatillos, drained (it only comes in one size...I think it's a 15 oz. can?)
1 can sliced jalepenos, drained (same size as tomatillo can)
    1 cup fresh cilantro leaves
blend together in processor 'til salsa-like.
I then take half, put it in a freezable container (plastic storage bag works just fine), and throw it in the freezer for the next batch.  If you don't want to do this, double the following recipe:
    In blender:
    remaining green sauce from above
2 ranch packets (in salad dressing aisle)
    1 3/4 cups mayo
    1 cup milk (I use 2%, I don't like buttermilk)
    blend until mixed
    ------
It lasts for about 2-3 weeks in the fridge.  Also great on salads, with chips, or with fresh veggies.  Tastes very similar to Chuy's creamy jalapeno.  For a thicker consistency, use less milk, or add a little more mayo.

Ditto. I just went last night to get some from Chuy's because I've failed so many times.

  • I use this one...Everyone loves it.

    1 cup tomatillo sauce
    1 cup buttermilk
    1/4-1/2 bunch cilantro
    1 can diced jalepenos
2 cups mayo (do not use miracle whip)
Blend all of that in a blender, then stir in 1 1/2 - 2 ranch packets

we're getting one here!! Smile i'll finally be able to satisfy the jalapeno ranch craving!

ok i might just attempt my own dressing then without trying to duplicate chuy's cause then i'll just be disappointed!

  • ha ;)

    i might be persuaded.

  • I was at a friend's house this last weekend, and he made the recipe below. I haven't been to Chuy's in forever, so I can't remember how close it is to theirs, but it was fan-freaking-tastic in general!

The Unauthorized Chuy's Creamy Jalape?o Dip

16 oz. (or 24, it matters little) sour cream
1 packet of Hidden Valley Ranch Buttermild Dip Mix powder
1 handful cilantro leaves (more or less to taste)
3/4 cup pickled jalape?o slices (more or less to taste)
Put the ingredients in a blender (or use a nifty hand blender) and blend until smooth. Eat immediately or, even better, chill for a few hours letting the flavors meld.

The ingredient volumes can be tinkered with to suit your particular taste, without sacrificing the basic qualities of the dip. It is good on chips (tortilla or potato), tacos (particularly of the shrimp, fish, or fajitas variety), burritos, salads (thinned), hamburgers (like mayonnaise).
