I don't really want a company where they send a different person every time. I found one lady on craigslist, but wasn't sure if there is somewhere else I should be looking.
Also, if you have someone clean your house how much do you pay them per hr? Does $15 seem right?

Re: How do I find a cleaning lady?
I think private or through a company is fine, just check references. I'm in Michigan and I asked around (because I would love one myself) and most people pay $20 hour. The person typically cleans thoroughly, even dusting base boards...about 3 hours every other week.
Ask around. That seems to be the best way to get someone good and someone trustworthy.
Personally, I've found individuals will do a much better job then a company, and often for less.
We pay $150 for 6500 sq ft. It takes 2 cleaning ladies around 4 hours, so I guess that ends up being almost $19/hr per person. They are very reasonably priced as compared to others we interviewed. And they do an outstanding job! Another private team wanted $250. Merry Maids wanted over $400.

Even if you are - there is no need to explain why you want a cleaning lady. My house is 1700 sq ft and my lady charges $65. I have her come every other friday. Word of mouth is the best way to find someone. I have had the same lady for almost 4 years. I have even given her a key to my house because I trust her totally. I like having her b/c I hate to do the in depth cleaning. Having a cleaning lady is not the same as having a maid. Shoot, I am the maid around here. She does things like, dusting, mopping floors, cleaning baseboards, changes sheets (which I still do in between) etc. She does not put our stuff away, wash clothes or pick up after my kids.
Thank you! That is exactly what I want one for. I've never been into cleaning and feel like I have better things I could be doing.
$65 sounds very reasonable.
Seriously, don't you know you are suppose to have an immaculate house, serve 5 course meals everyday, host several playgroups a week, and eventually home school your kids.
I regret giving up my cleaning lady when I decided to sah. I wish we had worked it into the budget, however DH is due for a raise and the first thing I will do is hire her back
LOL! Just because someone stays at home, doesnt mean that they want to spend their free time cleaning toilets.
