A little vent (but long)

So as I have posted before my MIL and SS are here for most of the month. MIL rented her own condo so we all could have our own space. It's working perfectly. SS is staying with us and we are having a blast.
The issue? SS's mom is insisting on a rediculous call schedule. He now has his own cell phone and she insisted that he call her everyday. Totally understandable, I get it she wants to know where he is and what he is doing. He forgot one day to call and she flipped her sh!t. She didn't try to call/text him, nor the three other adults that he is always with. She told him that if he forgot again she would take his phone away for a year. Scared the crap out of him and we have all made she she gets called everyday.
Now she is insisting that he call her in the AM prior to 10am to inform her of his plans for the day in addition to another call after dinner so he can tell what he actually did that day. He is so scared to forget that he made a big sign to remind himself and taped it to his phone.
It's not like this is the first time he has been away from her (although this is the longest). I feel so bad for him that he has this added pressure on him when he is trying to spend time with his dad and waiting for his sister to be born.

Poor kid! That sucks! Just have fun and try to help him remember. Can you set an alarm on his phone so he remembers to call when it goes off?
PS Happy Due Date! Did you take care of your hair so that baby can come yet?
He is almost 12. I think the part that is upseting the most for me is that Bobby will go days without hearing from him and she never sees an issue with that. It feels like she is trying to ruin his fun and can't stand that he is here.
Yes I did do my hair last night! I woke up this morning and she has noticeably dropped and I have a ton more energy. Maybe something will happen this weekend.
Wow, controlling much? I can understand one call a day. But threatening to take his phone away for a year and demanding a second call before 10 am is ridiculous.
It sounds to me like she is having some security issues between him being gone so long and you about to give birth.
I remember you posting a FFFC that you'd be fine with her just... going away. And now I see why.
