co-sleeper bassinet sheets

Does anyone else have a co-sleeper bassinet?  I just got the mini version and after opening it up and looking at the sheet, I'm second guessing my idea to use an alternative sheet.  But the darn things are $17 a piece for the standard ones, not even including the fluffy ones.  And a lot of reviewers say that you have to be extremely careful when washing because if you don't air dry them they shrink. (Seriously!?!?)  One suggestion I ran across that I liked was since the size is very similiar to a king size pillow case that someone just used those (which was my initial plan and just add sticky Velcro to the open end of the pillowcase to secure it. (yes I am too lazy to sew Velcro).  The actual sheet that comes with the bassinet has Velcro on the bottom so it will wrap around the mattress and then more securely attaches to the bottom so it doesn't slip.  I think I could add this for a similar effect if I make good measurements, but didn't know if there were other ideas out there.  I also don't have any king size pillowcases at home but I think my mom does and I'm going to visit her next week.

So I figured it worth asking if anyone had one and if so if they used an alternative to the "official" sheets that you buy for it.  TIA!

Honestly I love how it looks and can't wait to use it with little one.  But I'm not willing to wing it with one sheet that has to be air dried.  I'm currently planning on using one of those sheet savers on top of the sheet as back up but want an alternative for those crazy accidents that are bound to happen with a little one in the house.

Re: co-sleeper bassinet sheets

  • I have the mini-cosleeper convertible, but can't tell you how it is "in use" yet (about 3 weeks to go before baby girl is here!). I did register for the "official" sheets and only received one so far. Yes, they are quite expensive. I read through the reviews on Amazon and figured I'd just have a few real ones on hand and air-dry them (I air dry a lot of my items anyway). I know there are alternatives on the reviews so I'll see how I fare with the official sheet vs. alternative and post a follow-up.

  • I have the Arms Reach mini and two of the official sheets. I have never air-dried them and they both fit perfectly still! I was like you-hesitant to use an alternative and I'm glad I didn't- the official sheets gave me peace of mind :) Just be sure to Velcro the parts together before washing them so other stuff doesn't stick to them. GL!

How did you dry them?  Air dry in the drier or a different setting.

    Thanks ladies!
