We started the process in April. I did the vaginal ultrasound and was told that both of my overies look good. My husband had the SA done and was told that he has 100 million sperm (So absolutely no problem on his end!) . I have been diabetic for about 9 years and my blood tests results came back that my blood sugar is extremely high (double what it is supposed to be) and in order for us to continue the process will have to get my blood sugar down. This is going to be a long process and we want a baby so bad. I am already 30. Any advice would be great

Re: My husband and i have been seeing a fertility specialist
Did the doc consider putting you on Metformin? I am on 2000 mg. a day to help control mine. Some girls here are on it for PCOS, but I'm on it because I'm diabetic. Also, after nine years you probably know everything you SHOULD be doing...the question is do you do it?
ie. Eat several small meals a day instead of two or three meals. Make sure your meals have more protein then carbs/sugars. If you've never met with a diet counselor, do it. They can help you plan out how to plan your days. Snacks should be things like a handful of almonds or a string cheese stick for the protein. Don't eat sweets, drink diet soda instead of regular, limit alcohol to two drinks. etc. etc. etc. Do the "food diary" thing and test a few times a day for a few weeks so you can see what sets YOU off (example: lots of pasta = high sugar next morning).
I think it's because I grew up for 32 years being hypoglycemic before turning diabetic that all of this is just standard for me. I wish you luck getting your blood sugar levels under control!!

What type of diabetes are you diagnosed with? What medications are you on to control it? Have you been back to you diabetic doctor to discuss other options?
FWIW - I think you're younger than most women on this board. Don't let your age get you down.
Good luck!
I have type 2 diabetes. I take Metamorphin 500 miligrams twice a day and I take Onglyza 5 miligrams once a day. No, I haven't been back to the doctor to discuss options. I need to see a diabetic specialist. I just went to my family doctor. He didn't give me any options. Just told me to take my meds and go on Atkins diet and come get blood work done again in 3 months.
