I really just think people forget that they are naming a person that will have a real life and have to share their names with real people. You aren't just naming some cute cuddly thing...it's a person. Stick the weird names on the pets. They don't mind.
Re: My $0.02 on the baby name thing
So true.
Not that I would ever push my child to be a lawyer, I just always think, if it does happen, I wouldn't want them going into court and saying, "May it please the Court, my name is Nevaeh, and I represent the plaintiff." Ugh!
This exactly.
And my furbabies have ridiculous names (Bananas and Mayonaise), so I don't need equally silly names for actual babies.
I love the name Mayonnaise! LOL!
My pets are Guinness, Target, Charm, Chloe and Adrian. I named the first three, DH named Chloe and we just kept Adrian's name from the shelter. I don't usually pick people names for pets.
When I think of baby girl names, I always think to myself, "Would I want this to be my name?"
Exactly. The are children for five minutes, and then they have to go out and be adults, with jobs and bills to pay. Nothing like a credit card offer to "Banana Sparkledust" to drive a person right to therapy.
And this time, it really will be all the mother's fault.
I'm totally renaming X now.
