At what point will your ob NOT stop labor..

Today at my 32wk appointment they did a repeat fetal fibronectin (had a positive at 25wks, went into pre-term labor that was stopped with 3 injections of terb) and said it would be the last one they do if it comes up negative because they will not stop labor after 34 wks. That surprised me!! I thought for sure it was more along the lines of 36wks. What is your OB's policy??

34 is fairly standard for a lot of ob/gyns. Tocolysis has never been proven effective in randomized controlled trials. However, most will at least tocolyze for a few days to get steroids on board for fetal lung maturity. Since steroids are no longer needed after 34 weeks, there is little reason to tocolyze. Also the morbidity/mortality of a 34 week infant is nearly identical to that of an infant born at or after 37 weeks. In the end, however, it is purely dependent on each individual doctor.

34 weeks. The reason it was your last fFN though was because starting at 34 weeks the test isn't accurate anymore.

mine told me they wouldn't at 35 weeks when I told them I was having cramps at my 35 week appointment.

ironically we just had the same conversation with our dr tuesday. was in l&d last wednesday with contractions every few mins was given the same shot. and dr answer the same as yours, i'm 34 wks tomorrow and he said might do a half assed attempt to stop labor but would probably just let me go with whatever my body decides to do from now on.
