Yesterday I woke up with some bleeding, I have had a m/c before so I get very nervous at the sight of blood during pregnancy, anyway I called my OB office where I had an appt scheduled for next week. The woman on the phone told me that there were no dr.s or nurses in the office for me to talk to and that frankly the fact that I had not been to that office yet meant that they should not even be talking to me. They said they could not give me any advice and that I should go to the ER. They wanted nothing to do with me and rather than having someone give me some peace of mind they said "there is nothing we can do...Goodbye." I spent the day in the ER with a screaming toddler and while I am happy that the pregnancy is fine I am on the search for a new OB or midwife more likely.
Re: Mind Blowing Phone Call
That is unbelievable!! Um, yeah, I think a new OB is a good idea. What twats!
I'd call back next week after you've found a new OB and talk to a Dr, and lt them know that snotty woman lost him some business. Bet she won't be talking so nasty to another future client for some time.

I'll hold you in my heart until I hold you in heaven.
Yea, I was a new patient in my dr's office, and when I called to schedule my first appointment, I was invited to call anytime I had any questions or concerns. Even BEFORE my first meeting with the dr. If it's their policy to give no info to a new patient, it's not a very good one.
Find a new OB, stat. And I'm very glad everything is okay!

Had you even seen this OB before?
if not some states won't let them say anything as they don't have any history...if they have seen you before it might of been the answering service who still should of paged the DR for you...
My OB's office has a similar policy. Until they get you in for your first visit (mine was at 9w4d), they won't even talk to you on the phone. Just keep telling you that "if you're concerned, go to the ER"

No. I expected them to have me come in, get a history and do their job, especially since I needed a Rhogam shot. For all they knew I did nothing, and stayed home without getting the care I needed.
