Any creative ideas to stay cool during hot days?

All I can think of is the air conditioned mall....I would take DS to see a movie but I know he would just want to crawl around on the yucky floor. Any other ideas? Has anyone bought recently a fun outdoor water toy that works well? Or any other air conditioned places that would be baby friendly?

  • The mall is the best. But you could always go to the movies at the Kennedy School in Portland to the Mommy Matinee. This week it's "Date Night" with Tina Fey and Steve Carell. It's at 1pm every Tuesday-Thursday and it's just a bunch of moms and babies. It's great. Don't know if you've ever been. You could go to a community pool and swim or the Children's Museum. Other than that, I got nothin. haha

  • Wading pools and fountains are really fun for the kids and keeps you cool too. I like the outdoor wading pools because I get to keep cool without getting soaked. :)

  • yesterday we had DS outside in the $8 wading pool dumping water on our feet and splashing us.
  • I've heard of people killing some time at a pet store looking at all the fish, hamsters, and whatever else they may have that day.  It's indoors, air conditioned, and free.
