Today was my first day to test with the CBEFM. I PIAC and then stupidly couldn't find the directions for how long to hold the stick in the urine if it's in a cup. So I only held the stick in the cup for about 4 seconds.
Then I discovered online that I was supposed to hold the test in the urine for 15 seconds (and looking more closely through the booklet found the instructions in the questions in the back). Gah!
Did I just totally mess up? Seems like the results of today's test are invalid, because it's not correctly done for either method (POAS or PIAC). Will it think tomorrow that my levels surged if I do it correctly tomorrow (either method)?
Aaargh!

Re: Did I just mess up my CBEFM cycle???
I don't think you messed it up. I don't have experience w/CBEFM, but directions to OPK's and HPT's say, too, to hold the strip in the cup for a longer period of time as opposed to peeing directly on it. I think they tell you 15 seconds to make sure the strip is saturated enough. Do you get a reading right away? I have no idea how that works, but if it's saturated enough for you to get a reading/result, you are probably fine. It's to test the amount of the LH as opposed to the amount of pee.
Again, no experience so I may be just talking out of my ass. But I wanted to make you feel better b/c you seem so distraught! Hopefully there's someone out there who has experience who can help!
Awww, thanks, curly! I am just frustrated with myself for not getting clear on the directions ahead of time. My whole point in getting the CBEFM was to try to take some of the anxiety out of waiting for O... and so I felt like I totally effed up on my very first day.
Thank you for your kind words and for talking me down! You are a great TTC-whisperer!

Yes, I got a low reading. It's only CD6 (and first stick of my first cycle using the monitor)... lately I've been O'ing on CD12, though FF has had me as early as CD9, so I was hoping the CBEFM would help me predict better.
Thanks jcath, sounds like I should be okay then!

Weird coincidence. I'm also on CD6 and usually O on CD12 too.
You should be fine. Your CBEFM will read tomorrow's stick properly.
Heh, that's cool, a cycle buddy! Thanks for the reassurance, glad to know I didn't botch things.
Best wishes to you, SBZ!

No error message, though the monitor turned off while I wasn't looking. When I turned it back on it just had the Low indicator showing and 6 for the cycle day.
Yay, and thanks for the well wishes!

I don't have any helpful tips as I don't have a CBEFM but I always wished I had bought one.
Good luck this cycle!
Thank you Chicken... you too!!!

You too Kiki
The monitor turns itself off after like 30 seconds - it's no problem to turn it on again. I usually POAS, put it in the monitor, get in the shower and then come back to it, it's off but I just turn it on and pull out the stick and get the result. It's super easy.
I also think mine is human and talk to it and think it gives me weird readings just to annoy me...I might need to see someone for this
Haha... as long as it doesn't start talking back, you should be fine.

Hello there,
I just started the CBEFM last week (I'm on day 12 now), and I can't tell you the number of mornings I've checked and rechecked and wondered if I am inserting it right or holding the sticks the right way or peeing long enough or for too long...
In my (1 week) of experience, I'd say that you are a-ok. As someone else noted, it is checking for hormone levels. In fact, the booklet says that the first month the computer is getting to "know" you, so I'll bet it takes into account all kinds of factors.
I just went up to "two bars" yesterday and am getting excited to hopefully see the little "egg" in a few days.
GL!!
Ha, the whole "monitor getting to know you" thing is starting to make me think it'll need to get psychological profile on me!
Good luck to you too, talullah, and thanks!
