Another Trigger Question

Since this is my first IUI cycle too....I have a question.  If you go in for the u/s and they see that your follies aren't quite big enough yet to trigger, do they schedule you for another u/s later...or do they assume they will be a certain size on a certain day and have you trigger then?  I'm just confused on how they decide on if and when you should trigger.  I haven't had my u/s yet, it is Monday, but I would like to go informed.  Thanks!

Re: Another Trigger Question

  • I had my u/s on Day 3 to make sure I had no cysts and follie check u/s to see how I am responding to my meds (follistim) on CD6, 9 and one tomorrow on CD11.  They will check my follies then let me know if I need to continue and come back for another follie check or let me know I need to trigger.  As of yesterday I had a 13 and 15 follie. Did you start your meds yet?

  • I am taking Femara days 3-7.  Tomorrow will be day 6 of my cycle.  I am scheduled for an u/s on Monday which will be CD11.  I'm hoping I won't have to go in for another u/s after that.  Apparently my doctor doesn't do as much monitoring as yours.

  • Femara is usually not as closely monitored as injectables.
My RE only does one u/s in a femara cycle usually and then based on that tells me when to trigger. Each time (except my last but that is a different story) I have been ready to trigger in a day or 2 after that u/s.

    Good luck!
